In Paper Bag Equations, my first book, I document the journey out of my religious (Calvinist) upbringing into a healing and hopeful path through the medium of poetry. These poems exemplify my former belief system, share experiences of confusion as I question my assumptions, and express new perspectives I’ve found liberating along the way. I’ve included analog film photography from Oahu, Oregon, California, and Big Island to accompany the poems.

The process of writing, compiling, and publishing this book has given me a lot to be grateful for. Through all the iterations, I’ve learned more about myself and my creativity. I am excited to be sharing this work with you.
